I’m excited to highlight Kristin Linderman, she has a dynamic personality that fills the space with charisma. Today you’ll get to learn all about her and her business, YoGlow Face Yoga to keep your skin and face looking amazing!

So, without further ado… do you know what face yoga is? If you don’t, you’re not alone! I didn’t know what face yoga was until I had the opportunity to speak with Kristin Linderman, owner of YoGlow Face Yoga. Face Yoga is no laughing matter, it gives serious benefits. Face Yoga goes beyond the typical skincare regime and works out the muscles in your face – and there are a lot of them!  Face Yoga can help alleviate migraines, which includes massaging the temples, scalp, and jawline. It also helps those fine lines and wrinkles that many of us desperately try to prevent with Botox, lotions, and potions.

All About Kristin

Kristin is originally from Pennsylvania and currently lives in New Jersey. Kristin is a face yoga specialist, who trains women how to work out the muscles in their face. Kristin's journey into skincare and wellness traces back to her upbringing, where her mother's emphasis on moisturizing from a young age and her father's perpetually youthful appearance hints at the potential influence of genetics. However, it was during the challenges of her breast cancer diagnosis in 2015 that Kristin's interest in proactive skincare truly ignited.

Facing chemotherapy and a double mastectomy due to genetic factors, Kristin was confronted with the prospect of also encountering surgical menopause and its potential effects on her skin and overall well-being. Determined to take control of her health and appearance, she embarked on a journey of research and lifestyle changes, transitioning to chemical-free products and embracing a holistic approach to skincare and wellness.

Motivated by her unique circumstances and a desire to pioneer new paths in skincare, Kristin delved into facial training and explored practices rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and other ancient sciences. Recognizing a gap in accessible options for such holistic approaches on the East Coast, she sought to bring these techniques to her community, aiming to offer alternatives to conventional skincare treatments.

Driven by a belief in the power of natural methods and a commitment to self-care, Kristin's journey serves as an inspiration for those seeking to navigate their own wellness paths with intention and mindfulness. Through her story, she demonstrates the potential for empowerment and resilience in the face of adversity, embodying the spirit of embracing change and seeking the bright side of the road.

Why YoGlow Face Yoga?

The name, YoGlow came from Kristin’s feeling of positive energy and bringing out a natural glow in herself and others. Kristin remembers singing a song and the words coming up with ‘you glow’ and eventually getting to ‘YoGlow,’ which sounded perfect for how she wants her clients to feel – glowing! Not to mention that her presence is magnetic, and you can sense the glow of her energy as I did when I met with her. Even as I write this article, I’m brought back to that conversation and feel energized again!

She has had friends and family who have come to her struggling with migraines or TMJ to help with those pains. There are muscle groups, meridian lines, and acupressure points that you can massage and techniques that can be used in aid of healing those pains. Kristin knew she could help her friends and family alleviate those pains with a few simple movements; she even gave me a few tips for headaches. She wanted to bring that expertise to others of all age groups. Kristin's ideal client embodies a shared commitment to natural approaches to skincare and wellness, eschewing conventional treatments like Botox in favor of holistic alternatives that promote long-term health and vitality.

Glow Big

Kristin has lofty aspirations for her business. Currently, many of her sessions are online based and she envisions upleveling her practice to help as many people as she can in an in-person experience. Kristin shares, “Everything that we did during COVID was on Zoom and online that now so many people want to be back in person!” After COVID, she realized that it’s important to one’s health to see one another in person and experience others in action. She’s not only aiming for in-person sessions but also a higher goal of a retreat. It would go beyond solely face yoga exercises and include other health and wellness professionals involved in their specialties to be a full-on retreat. Kristin also would like to collaborate with yoga studios so that yogis can also enjoy her facial sessions.

Strong Women as Mentors

Kristin admires her mother as the holder of the fort, keeping everything going in the household and running smoothly, all while operating a successful Avon business and a full-time job. Watching her mom do it all and be a superwoman inspired Kristin as well to have the entrepreneurial itch. Not only does her mom inspire her, but she’s always had wonderful mentors and is currently in a business coaching group that has been life-changing - The Impact Incubator, founded by Angela Greaser and Melissa Camilleri Anicich. She found these extraordinary thought leaders through Cathy Heller, a business and life coach. Kristin listened to Cathy’s podcast and ventured into her coaching group as well. One of Cathy’s main takeaways that stuck with Kristin was to “believe in yourself if you have a desire, a dream, a gift already inside you that you are worthy of taking up space and doing something more.” The guidance and community from all the amazing women in the Incubator as well as her mother are a rewarding motivation that keeps Kristin moving toward her goals.

Another woman, Kristin feels lucky to know is her sister-in-law, who worked for a university, and had pursued other opportunities upon exiting her tenure. However, her sister-in-law was not content with the offers she had received as a businesswoman of her caliber. Instead of giving up, she decided to persevere and do it her way by starting her own business. Now, her sister-in-law is the owner of a CFO on retainer firm and consults as a strategic advisor for other companies. Kristin was in awe watching as her sister-in-law courageously overcame those obstacles.

Power & Movement is Key

Kristin’s advice for others is simple, “Keep strong, powerful women in your circle.” Growing up she always felt like she had to compete with others, especially when playing sports and when hanging out with boys as she fondly recalls being more of a “tomboy” rather than a girl’s girl until college. But now, she realizes in this stage of her life the women surrounding her are so much more empowering for support and collaboration. She loves and respects the women in her life.

What keeps her motivated? With this busy world, she finds that being in nature is a serene place to change her perspective and environment. She also feels energized when she is active; it could be simply dropping into a plank or mountain climber exercise or doing a yoga class to get out of her fog and clear the mind. It’s the act of movement though that helps provide her the energy she needs and recommends to others as well.
