Spotlight on Women in Business: Getting Organized with Bracha Hurwitz

It’s the last but not the least Women in Business spotlight I have for this round of series. Through a South Florida business Facebook group, I was fortunate to meet Bracha Hurwitz, a professional organizer, who turned her passion for order into a thriving business, ClearCo Florida. Bracha has a kindred spirit like me as I love a good, organized area! So, let’s dive in and learn about Bracha and her impressive business, ClearCo Florida.

Bracha Hurwitz, founder of ClearCo Florida

From New York to Florida

Bracha Hurwitz originally hails from New York but now calls Boca Raton, Florida, home. Her background is in special education, primarily working with middle schoolers. She observed that many of the students struggled not because of learning disabilities, but due to disorganization and lack of executive function skills. This realization became a cornerstone for her future business endeavors.

After moving to Florida post-COVID, Bracha transitioned from special education to professional organizing. As she found her true passion in organizing homes and loved it! She founded ClearCo Florida with the mission to help individuals create organized and functional living spaces. The business quickly grew from a one-woman operation to a full-fledged team of organizers. ClearCo Florida focuses on three primary areas: moving assistance, regular home organizing, and membership-based ongoing organization. ClearCo Florida offers comprehensive moving services, including helping clients unpack and settle into their new homes. Her business also provides regular home organizing services for young families, seniors, and everyone in between. Their unique membership model is particularly popular with young families, offering monthly visits to maintain and refresh organizational systems as family needs evolve.

While her services do not include cleaning services, they do have a designer on staff for those interested in interior design. She can also provide referrals to cleaning companies and other service providers, ensuring a holistic approach to their clients' needs.

Creating Clear Space

The name "ClearCo Florida" was a collaborative creation. Bracha and her husband wanted a name that embodied the clarity and peace that comes from an organized home. "Clear" signifies a clear mind and space, while "Co" simply complements the idea, creating a brand that's easy to remember and versatile. Besides, having a clean and organized environment can be much more relaxing!

Bracha's motivation to start her business stemmed from her background in education and her own experiences as a young mom. She saw firsthand how organized systems could transform chaotic environments into peaceful havens, benefiting both her family and her clients. Whereas other people complain about moving and organizing, Bracha embraces it and has fun with it!

ClearCo Florida, professional organization

Her business stands out in the market for its focus on functionality and its innovative

membership model. Bracha and her team are all moms, giving them a practical perspective on creating sustainable organizational systems. Their priority is function first, ensuring that beautiful spaces are also practical and maintainable. Bracha has implemented systems that help her clients stay organized and it’s even easy for kids to help maintain. Simplicity and ease are her motto when it comes to ensuring the organization stays intact. She uses the same systems with her family and loves that it can benefit other families too.

Bracha’s membership package allows clients to sign up for monthly or quarterly sessions that fit their needs. She and her team will come and organize a section of the home based on the frequency of the sessions and then on the next session focuses on another area of the home. This membership package is a popular choice for parents with young kids.

Well-Organized Systems

Looking ahead, Bracha aims to expand her team to serve multiple clients simultaneously and develop a specialized team for senior clients. This expansion is part of her goal to support her employees with full-time work and benefits.

Bracha draws inspiration from several sources, including a New Jersey-based moving company for how they operate and that they can support full-time employees, as that is a goal for her as well. Additionally, her mother is a beacon of inspiration, who was a principal of a high school with hundreds of students and thirteen children of her own. Bacha witnessed how her mother managed a large household and numerous community activities, of which Bracha appreciated and gained insight for her own household and ventures. These role models demonstrate the importance of hard work and the impact of well-organized systems.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, Bracha's advice is simple: patience. Building a business takes time, especially for those balancing family responsibilities and businesses. She emphasizes the importance of persistence and consistent effort. Bracha reminds us that, “Businesses are not an overnight success in general and you have to put in the effort for it to work out.” Of course, there are always anomalies that seem to have “overnight” success, but typically not the norm.

Reflections

Bracha's husband plays a crucial role in her motivation, offering unwavering support and encouragement. Additionally, the positive impact ClearCo Florida has on clients keeps her going. Seeing clients experience life-changing transformations in their homes fuels her passion for her work. She really lights up when she receives a message from clients expressing their gratitude for her services and how it has made their life easier.

In a final reflection, Bracha mentions she would love to meet Howard Schultz, the visionary behind Starbucks. She’s curious about his initial vision for the company and whether he foresaw its massive success from the start. She wonders if he also had big goals for Starbucks immediately or did that come naturally. Thoughts for reflection as who knows, ClearCo Florida may be the next big household name in the not-so-distant future!

Get Organized

ClearCo Florida's services are designed to be ongoing, recognizing that life stages change, and homes need continual upkeep. Bracha compares organizing to mopping a floor; it’s not a one-time task but an ongoing process to maintain order and cleanliness.
